Copying master works is a great experience, try it!

In the past, I've occasionally copied master works including those by artists I really admire like John Singer Sargent and Winslow Homer...

Beating the winter blues!

Eleinne's workshop and the Mcpherson book inspired me to find random photographs that I took and paint them since it was cold outside. Here are two that I did (small 9x12 I think).

Bayonette Farm April 2008

Tulips were in full bloom on a big mound in Bayonette farm so I did this 12x16 a couple of weeks ago.

Hawaii Paintings 2008 Dec/Feb

Did a quick painting (~2 hours/12x16) on the beach on the big Island of Hawaii when Ashwin was taking a surfing lesson and Nikki was hanging out with Autumn. It was so spectacular just to be there and observe the blue ocean and the dark volcanic rocks - some of the pinks and purples that I saw in the water were spectacular! Came home with lots of 'blue' photos of Kuai, Maui and the Big Island and painted a couple of those amazing scenes!

Manasquan plein air

Painted plein air with the group after a long time! Used the new pochade box, new brushes..Loved the yellowstone! Its light and handy - the bogen tripod was terrific too - this set up is so much easier than the Juliann! Felt elated just being by the ocean and tried my very best to pre-mix colors, lots of it in the right values, paint thick, see shapes, and do believe that I did better! Heres the painting..small (8x10) but that was the best part..i was able to finish it!
